Adventuring to: Ely

Yesterday my brother and I had a few hours to spend in Ely, and it was SO lovely. Ely is exactly the kind of old, small little city I love, because there is so much history, many a tearoom and real nice green spaces. The cathedral is also stunning.

It feels very much like Cambridge, being in Cambridgeshire an all but it’s way less busy, which was lush. First of all we took a little walk round the city, up the high street and had an obligatory look in Fat Face and Toppings Bookshop. Then we meandered around trying to find somewhere for lunch.

We had lunch then went in a few other shops, saw many a cute doggo and then we went to the fudge shop – great idea when you’re dieting yep, before it started to pour it down and we went into a coffee shop. I analysed some of Yeats’ later poetry which is part of my British and Irish Literature module next term, while Josh read HP – we know who got the better deal there *sigh*. But it was perfect for a good coffee and book reading stop, which I always need. If you want a few hours out in a lovely city, I’d deffo recommend Ely.
