I was kindly invited to have afternoon tea at the Double Bubble Tea House with my Mum. While this was gifted, I had no obligation to write a blog post, just take photos to share on social media.
As bubble tea novices, we asked Klara and Karen for their tea recommendations. Mum had the mint chocolate (she loves all things mint chocolate) tea with cherry, blueberries and raspberries bubbles, while I had the popular mango tea with green apple bubbles – they were as delicious as they sound! The mango tea is really fresh, and both are very light so an ideal and more interesting substitute to regular tea.
Our bubble tea arrived with candyfloss, as we sat down to a decadent afternoon tea with cakes by Bakes by Chelsea. It’s an incredibly sweet-orientated afternoon tea, with a few sandwiches and crisps to cover the savoury aspect.
There was so much delicious food; a lotus biscuit brownie, oreo brownie, oreo donut, lime and coconut cake, a chocolate pastry, macaroon, apple pastry, fresh strawberries, watermelon and orange. You get a lot for two people, and we sadly couldn’t finish it all.
The service and atmosphere was lovely, it’s nice to find a vibrant independent that offers something other than coffee. I think it’s a great addition to Peterborough and I’ll certainly be going back for more tea!
Double Bubble Tea House is an ideal spot to take your cake-loving friends or a tea-lover for an alternative afternoon tea.
